BolNepali Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement • Updated: September 2026 • BolNepali Platform

1. Our Commitment to Digital Inclusion

At BolNepali, we believe that education and language learning must be barrier-free and accessible to everyone, including learners with visual, auditory, motor, or cognitive disabilities, as well as elderly users and beginners.

We continually optimize our platform in alignment with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards established by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

2. Voice-First & Auditory Learning Support

  • 🔊 Native Audio Pronunciations for Every Word: All 700+ vocabulary words, travel phrases, numbers, and grammar patterns include instant high-definition audio playback to assist learners with low vision, dyslexia, or reading challenges.
  • 🐢 Flexible Speech Speed Control: Learners can adjust voice playback speed (Slow 0.7x, Normal 0.88x, Fast 1.0x) to match their personal listening pace and auditory comprehension needs.
  • 🎙️ Speech Recognition (Voice Input): Users can practice speaking directly into the microphone without needing physical keyboard input, aiding learners with motor impairments.
  • 👨‍🏫 Multiple Voice Persona Options: Learners can switch between male (Santosh Sir) and female (Anita Teacher) voice synthesis based on acoustic comfort.

3. Visual Design, High Contrast & Typography

  • High-Contrast Dark & Light Themes: Our color palette strictly conforms to WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios (at least 4.5:1 for standard text) to minimize eye strain and enhance readability.
  • Clear Multi-Script Typography: High-legibility typography optimized for Malayalam (Noto Sans Malayalam), Nepali Devanagari (Baloo 2 / Noto Sans), and English (Inter).
  • Multi-Layered Phonetics: Every Nepali word is presented with native script transliteration, Romanized pronunciation, and English translation side-by-side to assist multi-modal comprehension.

4. Screen Reader & Keyboard Navigation

  • Semantic HTML5 Structure: Proper use of landmarks (<header>, <main>, <nav>, <footer>) and hierarchical heading tags (<h1> through <h4>) ensures screen readers navigate logically.
  • ARIA Descriptive Labels: Interactive icon-only buttons (audio playback, favorites, microphone, deletion) include descriptive aria-label and title attributes.
  • Full Keyboard Operability: Interactive cards, quiz answer options, and navigation tabs are fully accessible using standard Tab, Enter, and Spacebar key sequences.
  • Touch Target Sizing: All interactive touch targets adhere to a minimum size of 44x44 pixels with ample spacing to prevent accidental mis-taps on mobile devices.

5. Progressive Web App (PWA) & Offline Reliability

BolNepali is fully installable as an offline Progressive Web App on Android, iOS, Windows, and macOS. Even in remote Himalayan travel zones without an internet connection, vital emergency phrases, taxi directions, and medical survival vocabulary remain fully readable and operable offline.
